This week we take a look at the more emotional side of baseball. A week in which one of the most well-known players in Toronto Blue Jays history played his last game. A farewell story that brought many fans to tears. Jose Bautista's last game as a Blue Jay.
Majority of Jays fans on Sunday
On Sunday, October 1st, the New York Yankees arrived in Toronto, prepared for one of their last regular season match ups before heading to the postseason. Toronto, on the other hand, was on the outside looking in. A disappointing season leaves Toronto out of the playoffs and looking to play the role of spoiler.
The Blue Jays mindset going into this series
This game played out in just the way all Jose Bautista fans wished it would. It started out with a BANG, that's for sure. Toronto's leadoff man Hernandez led the game off with a leadoff home run, putting the Jays ahead early 1-0. The real water works for many fans began when Jose stepped up to the plate in the fourth inning and cashed two runners with a rbi single. This propelled Toronto to a 9-1 lead and they never looked back. Marcus Stroman earned the win for Toronto, putting the cherry on top of a tremendous season individually.

Marcus Stroman fired up after Sundays big win!
Once Jose had taken his at-bat he ran out to his position on the field, after warming up, something tremendous occurred. Manager John Gibbons sent his replacement Ezequiel Carrera out to Right Field (Jose's position). He proceeded to give Bautista a warm hug and thanked him for his time as his teammate. Bautista ran along the field, embracing every one of his teammates and thanking them for allowing him to be apart of this years team. Once Jose had reached the dugout, fans cheering his tipped his cap to all those watching. A sign of thanks for all the years. A sign of respect for all those that have followed his journey as a Toronto Blue Jay.
